Privacy Policy — NumenShield Clean

In short

NumenShield Clean analyzes and cleans inside your Mac. The only thing that goes out to the internet is the bare minimum needed to check that your license is valid and to see whether an update exists.

We never read or send the contents of your files, nor their names, nor their paths. The analysis is 100% local.
No accounts, no sign-up. We don't even ask for an email to use the app.
No analytics, no advertising. There is no third-party SDK inside the app, no advertising identifiers, and no usage tracking.
When you activate your license we send your key and your Mac's name, so you can see which machine it's activated on and so we can honor the number of machines you bought.
We do not sell your data to anyone.

1. Who we are

NumenShield Clean is a macOS application developed by SecPro LLC ("SecPro Security Professionals", "we", "us"). This policy explains what data the app handles, why, and what does (and does not) leave your Mac.

2. Our principle: your Mac first

Everything the app does — finding caches, logs and temporary files, spotting duplicates, measuring what's taking up your disk, listing applications and their leftovers — happens on your own computer. None of it is transmitted to or stored on any server.

3. What we do NOT collect

The contents of your files. The app reads files to measure and compare them, but that content never leaves your Mac.
The names or paths of your files and folders.
The list of applications you have installed.
Your cleanup history: it lives in a file inside your own library folder and is never sent anywhere.
Usage statistics, heat maps, interface events, or any other telemetry.
Advertising identifiers.

4. The only things that leave your Mac

Activating and validating your license

To our server When you enter your key, the app sends api.numenshield.com the license key and your Mac's name (the one in System Settings, e.g. "Ana's MacBook Pro"). It serves two purposes: checking that the key is valid, and keeping count of how many machines it's activated on, which is what you paid for. The machine name is also what lets you tell one from another if you need to free up an activation.

After that, the app revalidates the license from time to time by sending the key and the identifier of that activation. If there's no connection, the app keeps working: nothing is taken away from you for being offline.

If you deactivate the license from within the app, we send the same data to free up that machine.

Checking for updates

To our download server Once a day the app fetches a public file from downloads.numenshield.com to find out whether a newer version exists. That request carries neither your key nor any data about you; as with any download on the internet, the server sees the IP address it was requested from and the app version. Updates are cryptographically signed, and the app refuses any that doesn't carry our signature.

Buying

To Stripe Payment doesn't happen inside the app: it happens on the website, through Stripe, who process the card. We never see or store your card details. Stripe passes us the purchase email so we can send you your key. See the Stripe privacy policy for how they handle that data.

5. Permissions macOS asks you for

Full Disk Access: this is what lets the app look inside folders macOS protects (app caches, the Trash, Mail attachments). Without it the app still works, but it can't see part of what it could clean — and it tells you so. You grant this yourself in System Settings and can take it back whenever you like.
Desktop, Documents and Downloads folders: macOS asks the first time the app needs to read them to look for large files or duplicates.
Notifications: only to tell you when a cleanup finishes, or for the reminder you set up yourself.
Administrator password: asked only if you run one of the maintenance tasks on the Performance screen, which are standard macOS commands. Ordinary cleaning doesn't need it.

6. Where your things are kept

Your cleanup history, your preferences and your license status are stored on your Mac only, inside your user folder. You can delete them from the app itself or by uninstalling it. On our server we keep only what the license needs: the key, its activations, and the machine name identifying them.

7. Security

All communication with our services travels encrypted over HTTPS. The application is signed with our Apple developer certificate and notarized by Apple, and updates are verified against a cryptographic signature before being installed.

8. Your rights

You can ask us what license data we hold for your key, correct it, or have it deleted. Bear in mind that deleting the license data deactivates the license.

9. Changes to this policy

If we change anything, we'll publish the new version on this page with its update date.
